What the Heck are the Notes on the Neck? with Liz DeBarros
10am to 11.30am
Limited to 30 spaces
What are all those frets for up at the "dusty" end of the neck of the ukulele, and how can I make best use of them? We’ll learn some basic scales to familiarize ourselves with the note names on the frets and then look at how we can start to “solo” or improvise within a song. Just for fun, we'll add in a few chord inversions (not as complicated at it sounds) for some great sounding chords.
Intermediate
At this level, you can hold a steady rhythm and can play a variety of basic chords (for example: A, Am, B7, C, C7, D, Dm, E, Em, G, and G7). You can play simple chord progressions, can sing and strum at the same time, and you can learn chords to simple tunes fairly quickly. You are familiar with reading TABS and know the difference between a whole note, half note and quarter note. The workshops below are suitable for you.

Chord Melody workshop with Carol Johns 1pm to 2.30pm
Limited to 30 spaces
An introduction to the chord melody style of playing the ukulele. The chord melody style of playing is a solo technique of playing the melody of the song and harmony at the same time on one ukulele. It’s all about the melody.
You will be introduced to the method of creating your own chord melody arrangements so you can play the chords and melody at the same time. It’s magic.
Players should be at an intermediate level of playing with good knowledge of chords and be comfortable strumming chords and picking notes.
